Oscadnica is the longest village in Slovakia. It is located in the Northern corner of Slovakia near to the Polish border.
The resort is in the Kysuce region of Slovakia situated within the Beskidy mountain range. The nearest town is called Cadca and is a mere 10km away. Oscadnica is also just 32km from Zilina which is one of Slovakia’s largest and most rapidly developing cities. Zilina boasts a wealth of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and cafes. The city square is particulary beautiful and there is nothing better on a hot day than sitting at one of the many cafes that surround the square. A typical meal out with 2 courses and drinks for 4 people would cost approximately Ł12 - Ł16.
The Kysuce National Park
The Kysuce territory is an area of 935 km2. It contributes to one of the largest networks of National parks in Europe. The area is very rich in natural attractions and mountains like Kysucké Beskydy, Javorníky, Turzovská vrchovina and Kysucká vrchovina. Velka Raca is the highest peak within the National park at 1236 metres.
One attraction worth noting is the Kysuce village museum with it forest railway. This is the only forest railway in Europe and is currently applying for UNESCO World Heritage status.
During the Summer months the resort of Velka raca offers a wide varitey of attractions on the mountain which include a Bobsleigh Run, Rope Park, Trampolines, Quad Bikes, Mountain Boarding and a Climbing Wall.
Within an hours drive of Oscadnica it is possible to take part in a wide range of different activities. Horse Riding, Fishing, Caving, Mountain Biking, Hiking as well as numerous historical attractions. Further afield Aqua parks are springing up all over the country and provide an enjoyable day out.
